Adventures to
Last a Lifetime

Cub Scout Pack 80 is based in Louisville, Colorado and contains families from Boulder, Lafayette, and Superior. Pack 80 meets monthly and organizes campouts, picnics, the Pinewood Derby and other activities. The pack consists of multiple Dens composed of same-grade and same-gender children who meet in their smaller group to complete activities and adventures.

Pack 80 is dedicated to a lively Cub Scout experience with activities that capture the interest of boys and girls yet are fun for the entire family, including siblings.
No matter what grade you are in, K-5, Cub Scouts learn essential skills and enjoyment of outdoor activities, community involvement, personal safety, sports, and the environment while building character.
Here is a preview of our planned activities for the coming year:
  • Fall Campout
  • Labor Day Parade
  • Pinewood Derby
  • Cake Bakeoff
  • Spring Campout

Useful Documents

Learn by doing within your small den: tie knots, set up a tent, geocache, build a campfire, plan and cook a dutch oven meal, collect food for others, prepare and take a hike, build a birdhouse, plant a tree. Have fun learning these things in Cub Scouts and you'll earn awards, belt loops, pins, and badges, too. Here is a sampling of our activities this past year:

A Scout is Helpful - community leaf rakes, Chai for Charity, garden-fresh food drive, stocking stuffing to make people smile
A Scout is Thrifty - Scouts earn some spending money and learn about marketing, public speaking, money management and selling - online and face to face with our only fundraiser every fall, Trails-End popcorn
A Scout has Fun...
  • Pumpkin Decorating Contest - Scouts carved or decorated a pumpkin to show their skills and talents, posting it online for other Scouts to enjoy.
  • Pinewood Derby – Cubs build and decorate 7” pinewood cars and race them down a 25-foot ramp, a classic event that’s fun for all.
  • Geocaching – create geocache with your den and find other den's hidden caching while you learn map and compass skills
  • Getting Wet - paddleboarding and paper boat races
  • On Target - archery and model rocket launches
  • Full Moon Hikes - ever hike at night without a flashlight?
  • Snow Fun - snowshoeing hikes, sledding, snow forts, ice skating and skiing
  • Overnight Camping - as a Den or Pack
  • Other Fun Outside-ings - Veteran's Puppy for Life

Scouting builds character and community in a fun way that sports or other activities simply can't provide.

How Scouting Works

Scouts are organized by gender and grade into Dens of 6 to 8 scouts. Dens are a great way to make and stay in touch with friends. Boys and girls may join at any grade and at any time of year.

One of Scouting’s biggest benefits is the structured exposure to skills and practical knowledge needed in family, career and community. Many of our projects in Pack 80 help boys and girls earn recognition for their achievements.

Through a monthly pack meeting, one or more monthly den meetings and other events, Scouts will go on a series of “Adventures” to earn their rank badge. They will complete six core Adventures for each rank. For each Adventure completed, the scout will earn a belt loop.

The Scouts can earn emblems for achievement in Character Development, Participatory Citizenship, Personal Fitness, Outdoor Skills and Awareness, and Leadership and Life skills.

There are also additional elective adventures that the Scouts may earn.

Webelos are the oldest scouts, and they are on a 2 year program that prepares boys or girls to join Scouts at the end of fifth grade.

About Pack 80

Pack 80 is a member of the Wapiti District of the Adventure West Council of the Boy Scouts of America and chartered by Carbon Valley Scouting. Our pack is based in Louisville, Colorado, but we welcome boys and girls starting in Kindergarten (Lions) progressing through 5th Grade (Webelos II) across Boulder county, and they are welcome to join at any point during this journey and during the year. Our pack is 100% volunteer run supporting about 100 boys and girls from Louisville, Lafayette, Superior, Erie and Boulder. (What better way to build a relationship with your child than by participating as a volunteer with his Den? They will look at you as a Super Hero!). We are entirely funded through scout dues and popcorn sales - our only fundraiser. Pack 80's goals include providing a fun and safe Scouting experiences while conveying the Cub Scout's Purpose and 12 Core Values. Dens meet at different times each month.
